| Athletic Therapy |
 |
Athletic Therapists provide services to assist active people who’ve sustained or could sustain an injury. These involve prevention, immediate care and rehabilitation.
A Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(C):
- assesses injuries and conditions,
- provides active rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries from acute to chronic stages,
- utilizes contemporary rehabilitative techniques: manual therapy, therapeutic modalities (U/S, IFC, NMES), soft tissue mobilization, and physical reconditioning,
- is a specialist in late stage conditioning, return to function programs and injury prevention,
- provides emergency/on-site coverage,
- specializes in supportive strapping procedures to promote an environment conducive to optimal healing and,
- promotes an environment conducive to optimal healing in preparing the individual for safe reintegration into an active lifestyle.
The athletic therapist uses the sport medicine model to rehabilitate all injuries. This focuses on the patient utilizing an active approach to rehabilitate their orthopedic injury.
