Ivy graduated from medical school (UWO) in 1994. She completed her residency (academic emergency medicine) in 1999 and her sports medicine diploma (under Dr. Clarfield’s tutelage) in 2000. Ivy practices medicine at the SWCHSC Emergency Department and at the Sports Medicine Specialists. She is a flight physician and assistant medical director of Skyservice Lifguard. She has also volunteered as a ship physician for Peregrine Adventures: Arctic and Antarctic voyages. She is also the medical advisor for Outward Bound, Eastern Division.
Ivy is an assistant professor/clinician-teacher through the University of Toronto. Her current responsibilities include sports medicine rotation co-ordinator (Division of Emergency Medicine) and teaching clerks, residents, fellows and paramedics as they rotate through the hospital and the clinic. She is trying to increase the profile of wilderness medicine in Toronto and developing an emergency medicine radiology database for educational purposes.
Ivy’s passion includes outdoor pursuits, photography and traveling. She has been fortunate enough to visit places such as the Antarctic Peninsula, Tibet and Kazahkstan. She rock climbs, hikes, jobs cycles, paddles and cross-country skis. She also attends ballet and pilates classes to balance things out!
